Exposure to carbon monoxide symptoms7/27/2023 The inspector should also check chimneys and flues for blockages, corrosion, partial and complete disconnections, and loose connections. Have the heating system professionally inspected and serviced annually to ensure proper operation. Most appliances should be installed by qualified professionals. Make sure appliances are installed and operated according to the manufacturer's instructions and local building codes. For rapidly developing, high level CO exposures (e.g., associated with use of generators in residential spaces), victims can rapidly become mentally confused, and can lose muscle control without having first experienced milder symptoms they will likely die if not rescued. For slowly developing residential CO problems, occupants and/or physicians can mistake mild to moderate CO poisoning symptoms for the flu, which sometimes results in tragic deaths. Symptom severity is related to both the CO level and the duration of exposure. High level CO poisoning results in progressively more severe symptoms, including: The initial symptoms of low to moderate CO poisoning are similar to the flu (but without the fever). What are the symptoms of CO poisoning?īecause CO is odorless, colorless, and otherwise undetectable to the human senses, people may not know that they are being exposed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that several thousand people go to hospital emergency rooms every year to be treated for CO poisoning. Still others die from CO produced by non-consumer products, such as cars left running in attached garages. Forty-seven of these deaths were known to have occurred during power outages due to severe weather, including Hurricane Katrina. In 2005 alone, CPSC staff is aware of at least 94 generator-related CO poisoning deaths. These products include malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, ranges, water heaters and room heaters engine-powered equipment such as portable generators fireplaces and charcoal that is burned in homes and other enclosed areas. On average, about 170 people in the United States die every year from CO produced by non-automotive consumer products. How many people are unintentionally poisoned by CO? Products and equipment powered by internal combustion engines such as portable generators, cars, lawn mowers, and power washers also produce CO. It is produced by the incomplete burning of various fuels, including coal, wood, charcoal, oil, kerosene, propane, and natural gas. What is carbon monoxide (CO) and how is it produced?Ĭarbon monoxide (CO) is a deadly, colorless, odorless, poisonous gas.

2002 cabin fever movie details7/27/2023 I resisted seeing Cabin Fever (2002) initially as their seemed to be quite a lot of puffed up publicity around it (both Quentin Tarantino. I honestly wish it could have been better, but redemptively, it was an honourable failure. The vacation of five college friends takes a horrific turn when one of them accidentally kills a diseased man, only for him to contaminate the water supply. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. To me, it just felt to me like a bunch of stuff i'd seen from some of the classic horror movies mashed in with one interesting premise. I think its designed brilliantly and has an environmental message, and I admire Roth's aspirations to not skimp on gore or sex, but it was unnecessary to the plot. Cabin Fever is another one of those horror movies which somehow has become fairly popular amongst young horror fans, not quite reaching cult status but. But in the end it's interesting twist to the typical cabin in the woods story doesn't fully make it work. There was also very few shocks, and once I adjusted to the carnage, consequently, it wasn't that scary. However he shows almost no creativity in Cabin Fever and for me he never demonstrated the extent of his talent. All this adds up to the construction of a cheesy 80's horror movie, which was exactly what Roth was trying to mimic. Especially considering the tiny budget it was made on. Five college graduates rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus, which attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals. Firstly, the acting is much better than I expected it would be, and the gore is disgusting and boasts some pretty impressive bloody corpse special effects. But that's just damning it with very faint praise. Rating: R (Language|Brief Drug Use|Sexuality|Strong Violence and Gore)ĭefinitely Eli Roth's most inspired, and most substantial film. 768 metro last light background7/27/2023 This ensures that every task is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible, and that every ounce of CPU power is used in the most demanding moments, improving performance by a considerable margin in comparison to traditionally-threaded games and engines. Similarly, CPU usage is fine-tuned for maximum performance, allocating tasks such as the rendering of physics effects or the playing of sound to any available CPU thread instead of pre-determining the rendering of physics to thread two, and sound to thread three. More impressive still is the fact that there are no streaming texture errors, or instances of textures visibly popping from low to high quality as the player moves through the world. Ordinarily, this level of detail would require gigabytes of system memory and GPU VRAM, but thanks to a highly efficient streaming system Last Light’s world uses less than 4GB of memory, and less than 2GB of VRAM, even at 2560x1440 with every setting enabled and maxed out. What we will be looking at today is 4A’s self-titled 4A Engine, which powers the technology behind Last Light’s astounding graphics, and those that dropped jaws in 2010.ĤA Games’ proprietary 4A Engine is capable of rendering breathtaking vistas, such as those showing the ruined remnants of Moscow, as well as immersive indoor areas that play with light and shadow, creating hauntingly beautiful scenes akin to those from modern-day photos of Pripyat’s abandoned factories and schools. These refinements will undoubtedly be discussed at length in the many reviews hitting the airwaves this week, but I will say that I haven’t been as engrossed and immersed in a first-person shooter and game world for quite some time. That isn’t to say 2033 was lacking, but unlike most blockbusters which come from seasoned developers with several titles under their belts, 2033 was the first release for the Ukrainians at 4A, and was built on a comparatively small budget to boot. Having done what was asked of him in 2033, regardless of the repercussions, Artyom must now explore long-forgotten sections of Moscow’s underground metro railway to confront his greatest fears, and to save what’s left of his post-apocalyptic world.Īs one might expect, every element of 2033 has been improved and iterated upon for Last Light, which is a superior game in every regard. Unsurprisingly, a sequel was commissioned, and tomorrow it finally goes live on Steam following three years of development.Ĭalled Metro: Last Light, this long-awaited sequel offers a direct continuation of Metro 2033’s story, putting the player in the shoes of Ranger Artyom once more. The story, too, was a cut above the rest, having been adapted from a Russian novel that went viral online before becoming a best-selling published work. By Andrew Burnes on Mon, Featured Stories,ĤA Games’ Metro 2033 was a smash hit in 2010, impressing PC gamers with its incredible graphics and unique gameplay, which bucked the bombastic trend that permeated the ever more explosive shooters of that era.

Teamspeak could not open capture device7/26/2023 Your audio will record alongside your video. Simply change it to the button of your choosing and you are good to go. You can do this by going back into the main Fraps application, on the “Movies” tab, and looking for the “Video Capture Hotkey” field. If you need this key for your game, you will need to change the hotkey to something different. The default hotkey to start and stop recording is F9. Once you have Fraps running alongside your game, recording is as simple as pressing the hotkey when you are ready. If it isn’t you may need to try reopening Fraps. If this is present, it means Fraps is working. To begin your recording, simply minimize Fraps, open your game, and look for the frame rate overlay. Step 3: Open your game and get started recording in Fraps. If it doesn’t, you may need to install a driver, or look into the audio settings on your computer. Step 2: Check to make sure that Fraps recognizes your external audio device. In the “movie” section you should see a box titled “Record External Input.” Make sure that box is checked. You need to start off by plugging in your microphone, and you’ll want to make sure that your computer recognizes it as a device. This allows you to forgo editing your sound clips in. Warhammer 40k battlefleet gothic7/26/2023 This was an early attempt to translate the GW tabletop game, putting players in charge of a mercenary group on a brutal campaign of skirmishes. However, there’s still something incredibly alluring about Shadow of the Horned Rat. Is it the most refined Warhammer Fantasy video game experience on this list? No, not by a long shot. This epic-sized campaign encompasses every faction and location – a veritable battle royale that could take weeks – if not, months – to conquer. While past Total War games have all been historical, being let loose in this fantasy world has given Creative Assembly the freedom to expand the series’ core gameplay, adding flying/monstrous units and experimenting with various campaign mechanics.įor the ultimate Total War: Warhammer experience, you need to play Immortal Empires. Take control of a famous general from Warhammer lore and lead your army to victory, seizing enemy territory and forging alliances with other powerful leaders. Total War: Warhammer and its two sequels have recreated The Old World in all its glory, from the putrid Chaos Wastes to the luscious jungles of Lustria and beyond. This is the closest we’ll get to having a digital version of Warhammer Fantasy Battle: a triumphant trilogy from the masters or real-time strategy. The magic really happens in those nail-biting moments, as monsters pour in from every angle, forcing teams to either stand together or hopelessly fall apart. There’s nothing more satisfying than turning enemy hordes into mincemeat, whether cleaving them, crushing them, or scorching them into oblivion, each hero having their own arsenal of weapons and unique abilities.

Preventable ed visits7/26/2023 Factors such as residence in a nursing home (odds ratio, 1.73 95% CI, 1.25-2.41) were positively associated with having a potentially preventable ED visit, and factors such as the presence of more than 1 comorbidity (odds ratio, 1.82 95% CI, 1.43-2.32) were positively associated with having an unplanned hospitalization.Ĭonclusions and Relevance In this study, 51.6% of ED visits among patients with cancer were identified as potentially preventable, and the absolute number of potentially preventable ED visits increased substantially between 20. Overall, 28.9% of ED visits resulted in unplanned hospitalizations, which did not change significantly over time (from 32.2% in 2012 to 26.6% in 2019 P = .78 for trend). The number of patients who visited an ED because of pain increased from 1 192 197 in 2012 to 2 405 849 in 2019 (a 101.8% increase). Pain (36.9%) was the most common reason for potentially preventable ED visits. From 2012 to 2019, potentially preventable ED visits increased from 1 851 692 to 3 214 276. A total of 18 316 373 ED visits (51.6%) were identified as potentially preventable, and 5 770 571 visits (21.3%) were classified as high acuity. Results Among 854 911 106 ED visits, 35 510 014 (4.2%) were made by patients with cancer (mean age, 66.2 years) of those, 55.2% of visits were among women, 73.2% were among non-Hispanic White individuals, 89.8% were among patients living in a private residence, and 54.3% were among Medicare enrollees. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the associations of patient, hospital, and temporal factors with potentially preventable ED use and ED use resulting in hospitalization. The Wilcoxon rank sum test was used to calculate trends in ED visits among patients with cancer over time. The Emergency Severity Index, a triage algorithm that ranks patients based on the urgency of their health care condition, was used to measure the immediacy of ED visits (immediate, emergent, urgent, less urgent, and nonurgent), with the categories of immediate and emergent classified as high acuity. Potentially preventable ED visits were identified using the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services definition. Main Outcomes and Measures The primary outcome was potentially preventable ED visits, and secondary outcomes were unplanned hospitalizations and the immediacy of the ED visits. Frequencies and trends among 35 510 014 ED visits by adult patients (aged ≥18 years) with cancer were calculated. Objective To explore nationwide trends and characteristics of ED visits and examine factors associated with potentially preventable ED visits and unplanned hospitalizations among patients with cancer in the US.ĭesign, Setting, and Participants This cross-sectional study used data on ED visits from the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey from January 1, 2012, to DecemUS Cancer Statistics reports were used to estimate new cancer cases each year. Rita chopra image7/26/2023 “She hated being a movie star!” Welles lamented. Together they plotted their escape from Hollywood, attempting to launch Welles’s political career, which, according to Leaming, was urged on by none other than President Roosevelt. The newlyweds settled in a Brentwood mansion, where Welles built a roofless solarium so Hayworth could sunbathe naked. Still, duty called when asked by a reporter whether they were going on a honeymoon, Hayworth replied, per Leaming, “I gotta get back to the studio.” “I never saw a happier, more tickled, more delighted, adorable couple in the world,” secretary Shifra Haran told Leaming. The exuberant couple married on Septemin Santa Monica, during Hayworth’s lunch break from shooting the film Cover Girl, with Joseph Cotton serving as best man. Hayworth relished having fun with Welles’s friends from the Mercury Theater, as she was finally able to connect with people her own age. To draw the sweet, timid Hayworth out, Welles would pretend to read her mind, so she had to correct him. It was a total impersonation-like Lon Chaney or something,” he said. “The whole wicked Gilda figure was absolutely false. Once back in Hollywood, Welles found that the real Hayworth was miles away from her femme fatale, “love goddess” image. And that’s when I decided: When I come back, that’s what I’m going to do!” “I saw that fabulous still in Life magazine,” he told Leaming. Wunderkind director Orson Welles had been shooting in Brazil when he came across Hayworth’s iconic pinup spread in the August 11 edition of Life magazine. In 1942, Hayworth met the man she would call “the great love of my life.” Hayworth refused to have sex with Cohn, setting up a feud that would consume the movie mogul and his biggest star for the next two decades. One day, Judson planned for his wife to go on a yacht and sleep with crude Columbia studio boss Harry Cohn, who had just signed her. Literally a pimp,” Welles told Leaming in disgust. Intent on making Hayworth a star, Judson forced his painfully shy wife to participate in endless rounds of publicity-generating promotions, which eventually inspired a nickname: “the most cooperative girl in Hollywood.” To make his wife look less “Latin,” Judson demanded that she go through painful electrolysis treatments to move back her hairline, and dyed her long locks auburn.Īccording to Leaming, Judson also encouraged Hayworth to sleep with influential men. “For five years he treated me as if I had no mind or soul of my own.” “I married him for love, but he married me for an investment,” she later said, according to Leaming. In 1937, Hayworth married her first husband, Eddie Judson, a shady former car salesman who was twice her age. “I felt something deep within her I couldn’t help-loneliness, sadness-something that would pull me down,” Douglas would recall after their tryst, according to Leaming. Yet she found little solace in her relationships: “Men go to bed with Gilda, but awaken with me,” Hayworth famously said once. Married five times, Hayworth would have affairs with Howard Hughes, Victor Mature, David Niven and Kirk Douglas. She apparently figured it out in her mind while she was eating.” Yet once the work was done, costar James Cagney remembered, she’d simply “go back to her chair and sit there and not communicate”-a possible indication of the trauma that lay beneath her glitzy persona. She’d be back right after lunch and have it down to perfection. “She learned steps faster than anyone I’d ever known,” her costar Fred Astaire said, according to Leaming. But as Barbara Leaming writes in her heartbreaking 1989 biography If This Was Happiness, what happened to her as the child Margarita would scar Hayworth forever.Ī magnificent dancer and entertainer, Hayworth lit up when performing. The world would come to worship her as the sex symbol Rita Hayworth, star of movies like Gilda, You Were Never Lovelier, and Separate Tables. Margarita Carmen Cansino was born in Brooklyn on October 17, 1918.

New at the zoo are two endangered Orinoco crocodiles native to Venezuela. Oddly, one of the more active animals was a giant tortoise, which marched purposefully across its enclosure. A few of the monkeys were willing to swing through the branches for us, though, and birds swooped through the aviary as they would on any day. The hippo was but a lump lounging poolside. In fact, many of the animals were on siesta. We were there on a warm afternoon, and the tigers were curled up in pairs for their afternoon naps. You can easily do this small zoo in a few hours. It's well kept, it has a lot of food and drink stands along the way, and walkways let you get quite close to the animals (although man-eating ones are kept behind glass).
